The charmed ones have all been adopted.
On July 14th a Florida volunteer entered a shelter to ID a 3 yr old possible Malinois female only to be told she was having her puppies and the shelter refused to allow her to see Mya. Despite being unable to verify her ID our ABMC Florida Rescue Coordinator sent out an Urgent appeal for a foster home.
July 15th. Our coordinator was notified around noon that Mya and her 6 puppies, 3 males/3 females, would be euthanized that same day! This is a Sunday with little or no time to make arrangements of any kind. It would have been extremely hard on a regular work day but impossible on a Sunday. Each and Everyone of us counted this rescue among our failures.
July 17th. A volunteer once again went to the shelter and discovered that Mama Mya and her pups were STILL THERE! Now what to do? Since we had been told they'd be euthanized Sunday evening no follow-up had been done on even the offers for temporary fostering. And since Mama Mya herself was already past her allowed time there was no way of knowing if we could get to them before they were euthanized!
July 18th. Our ABMC Florida Coordinator drove to the shelter to keep a previously set appointment, to spring a male Malinois, and found Mya and her pups were still there! She did what most everyone would do! Along with the male, who was driven straight to his foster home, she sprang Mya and her pups!
We now Desperately NEED a foster home within an 8 hr drive of Orlando Florida!
The pups are a week old. They will be s/n at 9-12 weeks of age and as soon as they are mobile enough :-) to take meaningful photos you will see them here first!
Week 13: Well Moma Mya has been in her wonderful new home for 2 weeks and the pups are adjusting. When they started meeting my other dogs, I think they thought Mya had just had her hair done….and they have adopted my dog Keeper as their surrogate mom. She has long hair and they sometimes treat her like she is just a gigantic plush squeaky toy.
They are mixing in with 9 other dogs at my house on a regular basis and going out for big boy big girl walks. They went for a play date last night with a full grown Lab and Phoebe stepped into the swimming pool for a short bit….she stayed on the first step but was quite proud of herself. They chased and chased the Lab until he wore out….Leo and Phoebe really don't wear out! Leo is a step slower than Phoebe on all counts….sweet, but more of a follower. Phoebe is non-stop.

Week 10: Mya and I are pooped…the pups are a lot of action now for us to keep up with now. I called in my friend Melissa for the photo shoot…it is no longer a one man job! Each pup is developing its own unique personality. They are each so funny and inquisitive. They don't have a care in the world and they are well adjusted and happy.

Week 9: Well, the girls have all gone on to their new homes and you'd think things would settle down…but not with these three! The boys are so much fun and always on the move. In fact, almost all of the pictures I took of them this week were blurry! They are turning into three really clever personalities and are funny, funny, funny. They got another set of shots on Friday and were SO good. As a group they come when they are called and they are LOVE attention. They are ready to move on to permanent homes and get the one on one attention they deserve.
And, Momma Mya would love to move on to her permanent home as soon as possible…no cats though…she's super good with everything else!!!!!

Week 8: Well, it's been a big week. The Charmed Ones and Momma Mya all got fixed on Friday….YEAH! Everyone did fantastic and you wouldn't even know it happened by the way they carry on. Paige left for her permanent home where she will be living with a longhaired GSD who has come to visit her a couple of times a week for the last month or so. Mya didn't seem to mind letting her go into his care. The pups have enjoyed playing with toys and chewies that Gena Norwood sent in a beautiful care package for them. They are turning into individuals now with independent needs and demanding individual attention. They still play as a group, but you can really see their little personalities developing….and boy are they something!

Week 7 has arrived and the pups are spending more and more time playing outside. Their coordination is improving and they are learning new things. Momma Mya keeps them in line and plays with them constantly…good momma. Their play can be fierce but fun. There is a big (for them) branch down in the back yard and we have left it down as a toy. They all hang on and drag it around. Nothing is too big or too scary for these guys!

Well, it's week 6 and off to the vet they went to have their first shots. Everyone was good and boy are they plump! The pups took turns whimpering for attention and the vet tech's all took turns holding them and spoiling them rotten.
The drama of the day was when Phoebe somehow got her mouth stuck on the crate and screamed, Mya flew off of the examination table and kicked the drawer with the supplies out on her way. What a mess, but thank goodness my vet's reaction was, "isn't that amazing what a good mamma she is!"
They are running around like nuts and enjoy digging in the fresh dirt. It's really hot here so they don't have a lot of stamina yet, but they run like crazy and then go out like lights! Their teeth are razor sharp and they are learning to use them! Wyatt's ears are trying to stand and they are all getting cuter with every day.
We don't ever stop!

Mya & the charmed ones had their 4 week check-up on Friday…they are perfect. On Saturday they went to a Flyball Tournament in Orlando….seriously. Well, actually they stayed in the air conditioned car and several ABMC members came out and “inspected” them. The conclusion was that so far they look like Mal pups…but they “warned” that a lot could change in the next few weeks. Bottom line…they are adorable, fat, sweet, sassy, and all that!
They are eating solid food like crazy and running around like nuts!

On Friday Moma Mya and the pups went to the vet for a check-up and everyone was perfect. Here they are at two weeks old. On Saturday Wyatt was the first to open his eyes. During the rest of Saturday and on into Sunday, the rest of them start to peek out. It's a whole new ballgame now that they look back at you. The activity level has increased and a couple of them are pushing up onto their feet and taking a few steps….I think they call this the calm before the storm!
