Elise
Terre pulled Elise from a kill shelter in Florida and transported her to the foster home in NC. Elise had to be treated for heartworm, while in foster care, prior to being adopted.
Photos taken while Elise was in foster care.
TOTAL LOVE BUG
Elise's new owners have this to say!
Excerpt from an Email received October 15th
Just wanted to express our thanks for all of the time that you took, working with Elise prior to our getting her. Yesterday we took her to a new mall on the south side of town, it was stated to be "Dog Friendly". Well, I can tell you, I was surprised, dogs are welcomed in the stores, and the open air common areas. We took Elise in and she shined....she was so well behaved and had no real interest in the other dogs. When we took her into stores, all of the sales people couldn't resist coming over to pet her. And all kinds of people came over to ask what breed she was, and a few people even knew. She was such a star, leaning on everyone to get attention, and she was great with the children. Bridget went into a restaurant and we ate outside in an open area and she "Plotzed" at my feet and stayed there until we were ready to go, people walked by and she didn't even so much as lift her head. Probably the most amazing part of the day came when we took her into a sporting goods store and she went up on the escalator and came back down on it as well...I didn't think she would do it. She is such a great dog.
Again, thank you for all that you do, behind the scenes and with the dogs while you have them.
JOSH, BRIDGET and ELISE.
Excerpt from a second Email
About 2 weeks ago, we went to see an old man who had some trees that came down in the storm. We took Elise and she went right over to him and sat with him for a while when I was running the chainsaw. I have thought about the therapy dog aspect myself, and I could see her doing it. She is so gentle and I think she would be able to do it. I just want to make sure that obedience wise she would be able to make the grade. She is getting quite a bit better with the stay.
We took her to our vet, I don't remember if I told you or not, but he really liked her and he is fond of the breed, which we were really impressed with. He has a "mutt" that comes in the exam rooms with him, and when I first saw it, I thought it was a Malinois...it has a lot of the same characteristics and the body is similar, but it is brindle colored. He wasn't sure what exactly it was, as he picked it up as a stray. She weighed in at 52 lbs.....I thought it might be a little heavy, but he told us that she looked fine to him.
After having Elise we are so glad that we got her...we really feel very lucky. We have passed on some info about the Rescue program to some of our friends who are looking for a dog, they are in NJ.

It's been a long time since I've written so I am writing to catch you up
on how it's going with Mocha.
She is doing just great, is really settling into the household. She and
Sammi (our other dog) are pretty good friends, although Sammi does have
to remind Mocha who's boss occasionally.
As for Mocha and the cats, well, that situation has changed a bit. She
and Shadow play all the time now, although you have to remind her to be
easy. The cat will stalk Mocha, and bat her into submission, and then
clean her head and ears for her; it's really funny.
Mocha has become Dan's jogging partner, my lap dog, and loves my Dad
too. Even my 4 1/2 year old granddaughter can play safely with her now.
(We do keep a VERY close eye on them.) We have worked very hard to get
her from being over protecive, and it is working. We are so happy to
have found her, thank you both for all your help.

I am a very well traveled Malinois for being only 21 months old. My journey started out on June of 2001 when I was born in Oklahoma. The first year of my life I spent in a pen with other baby Mals. Then this lovely lady, Kathy Greenwood, came out to my pen to see us. She decided to take all of us and find us "forever homes". I went to Kathy's home in Oklahoma and then on to my foster mom's home in Texas. Ms Glenda taught me good manners and other things I needed to know and made me feel special.
My Mom fell in love with me on the ABMC Rescue site and arranged to adopt me. Another nice breeder brought me from Texas to Tennessee then to a show in Greenville, SC. My Mom and Ms Connie came and picked me up there.
I love my home (sleeping in Mom's bed), all my toys, my buddy Sunie and taking classes at Bon-Clyde. I have passed two classes and I am now taking Agility I. It is lots of fun! Everyone is very proud of me!
"THANK YOU" ABMC for making my life so very special.
