A NOTE TO POLICE OFFICERS, SAR GROUPS
AND OTHERS LOOKING FOR WORKING MALINOIS:
Many police officers/trainers/SAR groups approach Malinois rescue looking for young dogs to train. Most of our rescued dogs are not suitable for these types of jobs. Some of our rescued Malinois are actually dogs that have been rejected by police departments due to their inability to do the job. While we are not opposed to adopting dogs out as working dogs, we adopt only to individuals, never to organizations or police departments. Most of our rescued Malinois have had difficult beginnings in life. The majority will make fantastic family pets, but most of them do not have the temperament needed to work day after day with a police officer or in search and rescue. All dogs adopted through Malinois rescue will be spayed or neutered prior to placement.
Darby approx 6 yr old spayed female - OR
Fee: $200
Darby would do best in a home as an only dog, she doesn't like to share her people!
Darby is an easy to live with malinois, she would make a nice first malinois! She loves everyone she meets, including children. Darby greets everyone with her tail wagging and her teeth happily clacking. Within seconds she is on her back wanting people to rub her chest. She doesn't like new people to touch her hind quarters, although she warms quickly to it. She can be a little mouthy when she is excited and playing, she is getting better about holding a toy.
She would do best in a home as an only dog, she doesn't like to share her people. She is fine meeting dogs outside of her home both big and small. No Cats. Her favorite pastime is to watch people and animals walk by the house, she will do this all day. She could develop a barking issue if this was not kept in check, when I'm gone she doesn't have access to the front window. When she is not watching out the window she is sleeping at my feet or on the dog bed under the window.
Darby, about 6 years old, was picked up as a stray in central Montana. She is up to date on her vaccines, spayed, micro chipped and heartworm free. She weighs 47 pounds and has a nice thick coat. She knows the basic commands, is housebroken, has good house manners (except for the occasional counter surfing), is crate trained and rides well in the car.

Spring approx 5 - 5.5 yr old spayed female - WA
Fee: $250
UPDATE! 5/26/10
Spring has made a full recovery from her hip surgery and the orthopedic vet has released her to full activity, including structured events such as agility and rally. He does recommend she not engage in really rough play, such as body slams (she IS a Malinois!) but feels she should be good for many years of activity.
See below for one of her outings to Petsmart:

Spring gets along with our dogs, is fine w/our children and likes people!
Spring came from a kennel and has never before been a house dog, but is adapting so well! Spring has not had much training or socialization but we are working on it. She is very friendly with people and gets along with our other five dogs. We have taken her to local pet stores etc. and she does fine. We haven't seen an aggressive bone in her body yet.
Spring is recovering from a surgery from an auto accident. She was in the rear of a vehicle (in her crate) that was rear ended by a drunk driver. Spring had a dislocated hip and a ruptured spleen. She has a little bit of fear about cars but once inside she rides fine. She has almost fully recovered from her surgery and, of course, the energy comes with it. She always wants to play! I'm sure part of it is that she has been crated a lot the last 2 months recovering. She is a very curious girl and loves to keep her nose to the ground smelling everything she can.
She seems to have a bit of a sensitive stomach. She is currently on a high quality, no grain kibble.
Spring has also done fine with our two children ages 9 and 12. She has not been tested with cats but doesn't seem to mind small dogs. Spring really just wants to explore and be around people. Spring is a very sweet and loving girl that needs someone to spend time with her training, playing and socializing her.
