Update: 07/18/04
All three puppies are either in their new homes or in foster care waiting to be adopted.
Three Malinois Puppies Urgently Need Your Sponsorship!
|
|
If you can sponsor all or part of the treatment for 1 of the 3, seven week old puppies, turned into Rescue with Parvo, please use this form.
Update: 04/11/04
The puppies are now all recovering from their bout with Parvo. Thanks to a very generous Veterinarian those costs were kept under $400.00, average, per puppy. Your contribution toward partially covering those expenses will be gratefully acknowledged.

Read their Story:
Three weeks ago an e-mail from Sandy at the Humane Society came in. She had said that there were 2 adult malinois and a litter of puppies. The dogs were not in very good condition and would rescue help if she could get the man to turn over the dogs. I asked her for pictures so we could verify that they were malinois. She went out took pictures and sent them. They were indeed mals. I just wasn't prepared for what I saw in the pictures. She was right they were living in horrible conditions.
Our hands were tied unless he would release the dogs. We kept in touch through e-mail and phone calls. Thursday night she called and said he had agreed to release 4 of the puppies and the mother. I was thrilled thinking oh boy now they have a chance.
My husband and I went down to get the mother and the puppies on Saturday. When we got there we were told that one of the pups wasn't doing well and had been taken to the vets.
We went with Sandy to pick the mother up. I was horrified at what I saw. The pictures taken three weeks ago were nothing compared to seeing her. The mother was in horrible condition. There are no words that can describe how I felt when I saw her. We had no choice but to take her to the vet to be euthanized. It was one of the most heartwrenching decisions I have ever made.
We took the three puppies home and hoped that they would at least get to know a life their mother never had a chance to know.
Sunday one of the puppies stopped eating so we separated him and started feeding him by hand. I was hoping maybe it was from the trip. By Sunday night the 2 other puppies were showing the same signs he had.
Monday morning we were in the vets office. She tested the puppies for parvo and it came back positive. They are now in the vets being treated. It is going to be expensive but these guys deserve a chance in a forever home where they can know that people do care.

Is it any wonder, considering their living quarters,
that 3 of the pups died prior to Rescue
