Our wonderful foster families care for their rescued Malinois, paying attention to all the details and training, that helps ensure they are ready to be adopted when the right family comes along. The past year has been particularly busy leaving many of the foster families short of the essential equipment or supplies that make their job easier or provide entertainment for their fosters.
Highlighted below are some items that foster homes find need to be replaced frequently because they are either consumed during the foster period or accompany the foster on to its new home.
You can arrange to provide one or more of these items to a foster home by contacting any of the coordinators listed below.

Transport a Malinois from a shelter to a foster home.

Donate a dog bed, or other bedding type items.

Donate money. Collect your change for a month and donate that!

Donate a Kong, Nylabone or a Hercules.

Volunteer to be a Santa Paws foster to give the foster home a break for a few
hours or even a couple of days.

Clip coupons from periodicals for dog food or treats.

Bake homemade doggie biscuits for foster Malinois.

web page to earn commissions that benefit our rescued Malinois.

Host rescue photos with an information link on your web site.

Donate time to take good photos of foster dogs for the ABMC Rescue web site
profiles of rescued Malinois, etc.

Conduct a home visit or accompany a rescue person on a home visit.

Go with rescue person to the vet to help if there is more than one dog.

Have a yard sale and donate the money to rescue.

Volunteer to do rescue in your area.

Take advantage of promotions on the web or at stores, offering free ID tags,
and instead of getting it for your own dog, have the tag inscribed with
your Club's name and contact phone #. Contact a Regional
Coordinator
for
information to be engraved on the tag.

Talk to your friends about adopting or fostering a rescue Malinois.

Donate vet services, spay/neuter or vaccinations once a year.
-
Encourage your vet to offer discounts to dogs in rescue programs.

Write a column for your local newspaper or club newsletter on dogs
currently looking for homes or alternate ways a person can help rescue.

Volunteer to maintain an ABMC Regional web page listing/showing dogs available.

Help organize and run fundraising events.
-
Help maintain paperwork files associated with each dog or enter information
into a database.

Tattoo a rescued dog

Microchip a rescued dog

Loan your carpet steam cleaner to someone who has fostered a dog that was
sick or marked in the house

Donate a bottle of bleach or other cleaning products

Donate or loan a portable dog run to someone who doesn't have a quarantine
area for quarantining a dog, with an unknown vaccination history, that has been
in a shelter.

Pay the cost of taking a rescued Malinois to obedience class.

Take your children and dogs once a week to a foster home and help socialize a
rescued Malinois.

Help the foster clean up the their yard. (yes, we also have to scoop what those
foster dogs poop)

Offer to test the foster dog with cats.

Groom, or Pay for the rescued Malinois to be bathed and groomed.

Lend your artistic talents to create fundraising ideas or T-shirt designs.

Donate printer paper, envelopes and stamps to your rescue group.

Go to the vet with a foster person and provide support if a foster dog needs to
be euthanized.

Go to local shelters and meet with shelter staff about how to identify
your breed or provide photos and breed information.

Approach local businesses and solicit donations for rescue's fundraising events.

Provide post adoption follow up or support by being available to a new adoptive
family in your area.

Microchip your own pups if you are a breeder, so if your dogs ever come into
rescue, you can be contacted to take responsibility for your pup.

If you are a breeder, donate a small percentage of the sale of each pup to
rescue.

Buy two of those really neat dog-items you "have to have" and donate one
to Rescue.

Make financial arrangements in your will to cover the cost of caring for
your dogs after you are gone, so Rescue won't have to

Make a bequest in your will to your local or national Rescue.

Donate professional services as an accountant or lawyer.

If you run your own business, donate other needed services.

Donate your used dog dryer when you get a new one

Let rescue know when you'll be flying and that you'd be willing to be a
rescued dog's escort.

Organize a rescued dog picnic or other event to reunite the rescued dogs
that have been placed.

Donate a Roll-a-Treat or Buster cube or other mentally stimulating item to a
Malinois foster home.

Donate frequent flyer points so rescue can fly a dog from another area to
safety.

Give rescue a fax machine.
-
Sponsor the gas or travel expense for the transport of a rescue dog.

Donate film for taking pictures of rescue Malinois.

Offer to assist with special needs rescue Malinois (give shots, medications,
special training for deaf dogs, etc).

Talk to health food and naturopathic stores about donating items to canine
rescue organizations.

Talk to alternative vets about dogs with special needs.

Donate vinyl or other flooring materials to put under crates to protect the
foster's floor and carpets.

Offer to take a penny jar for rescue to work and put it in the lunchroom or on
your desk.

Talk to dog trainers in your area about helping assess rescued Malinois.
