Our wonderful foster families care for their rescued Malinois, paying attention to all the details and training, that helps ensure they are ready to be adopted when the right family comes along. The past year has been particularly busy leaving many of the foster families short of the essential equipment or supplies that make their job easier or provide entertainment for their fosters.

Highlighted below are some items that foster homes find need to be replaced frequently because they are either consumed during the foster period or accompany the foster on to its new home.

You can arrange to provide one or more of these items to a foster home by contacting any of the coordinators listed below.

1. Transport a Malinois from a shelter to a foster home.
2. Donate a dog bed, or other bedding type items.
3. Donate money. Collect your change for a month and donate that!
4. Donate a Kong, Nylabone or a Hercules.
5. Donate a crate.
6. Donate an x-pen or baby gate.
7. Donate a food dish or stainless steel crate water bucket.
8. Donate a leash.
9. Donate a collar.
10. Donate treats or a bag of food.
11. Donate a Halti or a Gentle Leader.
12. Walk a rescue Malinois.
13. Donate grooming supplies like brushes, combs, shampoos.
14. Make a few phone calls.
15. Mail out applications to people who have requested them.
16. Provide local vet clinics with contact information.
17. Drive a rescue Malinois to and from vet appointments.
18. Donate long distance phone cards.
19. Donate a scanner or digital camera.
20. Donate a photocopier.
21. Attend public education days and try to educate people on responsible pet ownership.
22. Donate a gift certificate from pet store.
23. Donate a raffle item when rescue is doing a fund raiser.
24. Donate flea stuff (Frontline, Advantage, etc.)
25. Donate Heartworm pills (Heartgard, Intercepter, etc.)
26. Donate an animal first aid kit.
27. Provide a shoulder to cry on when a rescue person is feeling overwhelmed.
28. Pay to board a rescue Malinois for a week.
29. Volunteer to be a Santa Paws foster to give the foster home a break for a few hours or even a couple of days.
30. Clip coupons from periodicals for dog food or treats.
31. Bake homemade doggie biscuits for foster Malinois.
32. Make purchases through the ABMC Amazon.com web page to earn commissions that benefit our rescued Malinois.
33. Host rescue photos with an information link on your web site.
34. Donate time to take good photos of foster dogs for the ABMC Rescue web site profiles of rescued Malinois, etc.
35. Conduct a home visit or accompany a rescue person on a home visit.
36. Go with rescue person to the vet to help if there is more than one dog.
37. Have a yard sale and donate the money to rescue.
38. Volunteer to do rescue in your area.
39. Take advantage of promotions on the web or at stores, offering free ID tags, and instead of getting it for your own dog, have the tag inscribed with your Club's name and contact phone #. Contact a Regional Coordinator for information to be engraved on the tag.
40. Talk to your friends about adopting or fostering a rescue Malinois.
41. Donate vet services, spay/neuter or vaccinations once a year.
42. Encourage your vet to offer discounts to dogs in rescue programs.
43. Write a column for your local newspaper or club newsletter on dogs currently looking for homes or alternate ways a person can help rescue.
44. Volunteer to maintain an ABMC Regional web page listing/showing dogs available.
45. Help organize and run fundraising events.
46. Help maintain paperwork files associated with each dog or enter information into a database.
47. Tattoo a rescued dog
48. Microchip a rescued dog
49. Loan your carpet steam cleaner to someone who has fostered a dog that was sick or marked in the house
50. Donate a bottle of bleach or other cleaning products
51. Donate or loan a portable dog run to someone who doesn't have a quarantine area for quarantining a dog, with an unknown vaccination history, that has been in a shelter.
52. Pay the cost of taking a rescued Malinois to obedience class.
53. Take your children and dogs once a week to a foster home and help socialize a rescued Malinois.
54. Help the foster clean up the their yard. (yes, we also have to scoop what those foster dogs poop)
55. Offer to test the foster dog with cats.
56. Groom, or Pay for the rescued Malinois to be bathed and groomed.
57. Lend your artistic talents to create fundraising ideas or T-shirt designs.
58. Donate printer paper, envelopes and stamps to your rescue group.
59. Go to the vet with a foster person and provide support if a foster dog needs to be euthanized.
60. Go to local shelters and meet with shelter staff about how to identify your breed or provide photos and breed information.
61. Approach local businesses and solicit donations for rescue's fundraising events.
62. Provide post adoption follow up or support by being available to a new adoptive family in your area.
63. Microchip your own pups if you are a breeder, so if your dogs ever come into rescue, you can be contacted to take responsibility for your pup.
64. If you are a breeder, donate a small percentage of the sale of each pup to rescue.
65. Buy two of those really neat dog-items you "have to have" and donate one to Rescue.
66. Make financial arrangements in your will to cover the cost of caring for your dogs after you are gone, so Rescue won't have to
67. Make a bequest in your will to your local or national Rescue.
68. Donate professional services as an accountant or lawyer.
69. If you run your own business, donate other needed services.
70. Donate your used dog dryer when you get a new one
71. Let rescue know when you'll be flying and that you'd be willing to be a rescued dog's escort.
72. Organize a rescued dog picnic or other event to reunite the rescued dogs that have been placed.
73. Donate a Roll-a-Treat or Buster cube or other mentally stimulating item to a Malinois foster home.
74. Donate frequent flyer points so rescue can fly a dog from another area to safety.
75. Give rescue a fax machine.
76. Sponsor the gas or travel expense for the transport of a rescue dog.
77. Donate film for taking pictures of rescue Malinois.
78. Offer to assist with special needs rescue Malinois (give shots, medications, special training for deaf dogs, etc).
79. Talk to health food and naturopathic stores about donating items to canine rescue organizations.
80. Talk to alternative vets about dogs with special needs.
81. Donate vinyl or other flooring materials to put under crates to protect the foster's floor and carpets.
82. Offer to take a penny jar for rescue to work and put it in the lunchroom or on your desk.
83. Donate herbal remedies for dogs with health issues.
84. Talk to dog trainers in your area about helping assess rescued Malinois.
85. Donate a doggy seatbelt
86. Donate or loan a crate if a rescued Malinois needs to travel by air.
87. Offer to write an information packet on the breed to give to potential or new adopters.
88. Video a rescue Malinois successfully participating in an activity, obedience classes, agility classes and/or competition and provide files for rescue to display on their web site to increase the adoptability of the Malinois.
89. Donate a coupon for a free car wash or gas for someone who provides transport on a regular basis.
90. Get friends together to repair or build pens for a foster home.
91. Donate clickers and/or a book or video on clicker training
92. Offer to give out pamphlets on the foster Malinois currently in the Malinois rescue program.
93. Give your time to research medical conditions that may pertain to Malinois currently in our rescue program.
94. Help educate the public about Breed Rescue Organizations and the availability of breeds thru Rescue Programs.
95. Help a foster create a quarantine area in their home by donating materials and/or labor.
96. Volunteer to monitor your state/local internet listings of shelter dogs.
97. Donate safe doggy toys for rescued Malinois.
98. Provide the loan of your cell phone, and the cost of any calls, to someone transporting a rescued Malinois.
99. Donate the dog food or treats coupons you receive at dog shows to rescue
100. Provide a link to ABMC Rescue, http://www.malinoisrescue.org, on your web site.
