About Rocko - IA | |

Hi everyone! I am Rocko. I am a young Belgian Malinois, about 1 -2 years old. I love everyone! And yes, I mean everyone. I love scratches and cuddles.
I have been with my foster family for a couple months now. Here is some things that you should know about me. I do know many basic commands, like sit & down & come. I have a hard time doing them for very long, but with more practice and lots of yummy treats, I will get there. I kennel/crate well, especially if you give me an extra scoop of food to munch on. Don't worry, I am watching my figure and won't get out of shape.
I like to go on walks and walk pretty well, though sometimes I forget and try to lead my group on the walk. I then remember to come back with the group. But one thing I would really, really like is to have someone take me for some runs. I love running and that would help me use up some of my endless energy. I can be reactive to strange dogs approaching me but I am getting used to the dogs in my neighborhood.
I get along fantastic with my fellow house pups and play with them, but it took a little bit to settle in with them. I sometimes will grab the Golden by the collar to make her go see what i want to show her. I play with her the most and love to play tug and keep away. With the other young German Shepherd here, my favorite activity is hot laps around the back yard and wrestling for that big ball they put in the backyard. I listen when the Alpha dog tells me things and I follow his lead.
But, I have a couple things you should be aware of with me. These aren't bad, just the rest of me. I bark at activity outside the windows and get excited. I am not a fan of big trucks that drive by either, like UPS, Fed Ex and the garbage truck. I don't like car rides. I get very barky and try to run around. I would do best traveling in a crate for my own safety. I would prefer a permanent home in my state or a neighboring state so that I don't have to go through a long distance transport.
I can and will jump a fence, so I shouldn't just be out unattended, but do fine if you verbally remind me. I am not a candidate for an invisible fence. I have A LOT of energy and need mental and physical stimulation every day. And lastly, my fosters think I would not do well in a home with a small dog or a cat. My game is just too high.
If you are active and love walking, running, playing, and training followed by cuddles in the evening, then I would love to meet you.
