Calling all apartment dwellers! Have you been looking for the perfect pocket rocket Malinois for your active and Malinois savvy lifestyle?

Layla is a sweet little bundle of energy, seeking an owner ready to step up to her unique set of challenges. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to find a way to satisfy her appetite for exercise and stimulation while keeping her safe and secure.

Layla is a petite 5 year old spayed female Malinois currently being fostered in Pennsylvania. She is looking for a special person to understand her needs and meet them, religiously, no matter what. What are these unique needs? 1. Layla must be leash walked or exercised indoors in a secure environment. Her nickname could well be Houdini, as she is a master fence jumper and has escaped a crate. 2. She may be a mini-mal weighing in at under 40 pounds, but she has a plus-sized malinois need to exercise and mental stimulation. She is currently getting her needs met on a 9 mile daily walk. She will need physical and mental stimulation every day. Because of her fence jumping skills, she cannot be allowed loose in a fenced yard or left unsupervised on a tie out. 3. Her prey drive and her need to hunt small animals is also supersized, bordering on the obsessive. She is mega motivated to hunt, so she needs a human who can keep her safe, and keep the local cats and wildlife safe from her. 4. She is working on her house manners and safety when loose in the house. She is not yet fully housebroken, so she does require constant supervision while uncrated. After adequate exercise, she crates well.

Sounds challenging, but Layla also has some real strengths. She has nice basic obedience and knows many commands. Her foster mom reports that she has an excellent "out" and will listen and comply willingly. She is fine with meeting people, and walks nicely on a leash. She shows interest in small animals when walking past but can be a good girl on the leash with guidance. She gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home - 2 Malinois and a Lab. She has an excellent nose and may enjoy nosework type exercises and games in her new home.

Layla is challenging, but she has a lot to offer the right human. A perfect owner would likely work from home and have the time and flexibility to supervise, exercise, and train Layla. With time, attention, patience, and safety, Layla will make a fun and high energy companion.
