Bo is a senior gentleman who is looking for a home to call his own. We have been looking relentlessly for a place for him to live our his life and golden years.  Bo originally entered ABMR in March 2019 and found himself a wonderful home. This home didn't work out for him and he has found himself back with rescue. Bo has been living with a professional trainer for quite some time now where he has been working on some resource guarding. He typically does this with strangers. With his person he becomes more confidant and has less issue with this.

Bo will require an experienced home in which to spend his senior years.  Structure and clear boundaries are very important.  Bo can be a bit pushy with other dogs, however, if supervised will mostly ignore. A home with a female dog would do best. Bo does best with dogs that are not in his face.

Bo loves attention and seeks it often. He is looking for a home that will allow him time to build mutual trust as he bonds well. Bo loves car rides and is very settled in the car. Among his favorite things are walks with his people and treats. He is very food motivated.

Although Bo is a bit of an older guy, he still likes to be active on walks and play a round of ball. He needs moderate exercise and something to occupy his very sharp mind with. He is a true gentleman. He is also very goofy and playful.

Bo's ideal home will have some dog experience, especially someone who understands dogs that need time to adjust. He will take approximately 4 to 8 weeks to settle in to his new home and to love you. His ideal home will also have someone who is home most of the time. He is pretty good in the house and can be left alone, he just doesn't prefer it. A retired person would be ideal. He has been working on crating up, however, he is very resistant to crating in general. This is not a skill that he learned early on and he prefers to be out with his owner or just relaxing about the house and waiting for his owner to return home.

Bo would do better in a rural country setting over an urban setting. He likes his space, he likes to walk with his owner, and he likes to be active.

As mentioned, our guy has resource guards with strangers. Once he gets to know someone he will usually stops this, but it take time for him to build a relationship and trust. Once  you have won him over he will look at you like you are his sole reason for living....and you will be.

Crating is not his thing. He has been living with his foster who is a professional trainer and working on crate training. He will go in now, but really doesn't like it. His foster home finds that he is reliable left out or in a bedroom, but you have to build that trust first.

Bo responds well to knew people who work with him, do additional training, and practice commands. This is a great way to bond with him.

Since Bo has trust issues and it is more difficult for him to bond, we are only considering homes that are closer to his location in Atlanta GA. This would help with any meet and greets and transitions. Bo's professional trainer foster home will be happy to help transition in the right circumstances. If Bo's new adopter is near the foster home, the trainer will ofter training lessons and assistance to ensure a good transition.

If you want to give our Bo a chance, please don't hesitate to reach out. He is just looking for his happily ever after and for his retirement home.

Please let us know if you are interested in Bo by completing an application and we would be happy to discuss him further.  Bo would love a home to call his own.
