Foster Home Needed: Sloan is looking for an adoptive home or a foster home. She is not getting along with the female dog in her current home. Sloan is a young female approximately 3-4 years old. She was an owner surrender and lived with 3 toddlers and multiple other smaller dogs. She was herding the small kids.
Sloan is Located in the Charleston, SC area. She has a higher prey drive and is not cat or small animal safe. She currently lives with cats. The cats and Sloan are separated by a baby gate and she respects barriers very well. If the cats go to the other size of the gate she will not leave them alone. She should be good with older respectful children that are around 10 years old and over.
We are looking for an experienced owner to work with Sloan on her dog interactions. She has been good with small dogs in the past and would likely do well with a medium or low drive male dog of similar size. She is dog selective and doesn't get along with various dogs.
A home with no other pets would be best.
Sloan prefers women over men, but does well with either. She is super active and high energy and needs an outlet to direct her energy.
Sloan is a velcro mal, bonds well, very loving. She believes she is a lap dog and loves nothing better than to curl up in someones lap and watch TV. She is happy as long as you can pet her for hours.
Her favorite thing is her ball. She will fetch for hours. She will place the ball in your lap and nudge it. She's also happy if you roll the ball to her and she rolls it back. She has a wonderful cute, endearing, and engaging personality.
Sloan knows some commands like Sit, Come, and Place. She is not very food motivated although she loves food. She loves her toys and is very gentle with them, even when she could tear them up.
Sloan is not great in the crate. She gets very anxious in a crate and will tear up a wire crate. She is respectful in the hour and typically doesn't disturb items that are not hers.
She is UTD on vaccinations and spayed.
Sloan needs a firm but fair handler who can help her with decisions. In her prior foster home it took her several weeks to warm up to her foster. At the end of 3 weeks she walked over and placed her ball in her fosters lap and it was game on ever since.
She is submissive and leery of loud noises. She was not well socialized in her original home.
She alerts for danger when someone knocks on the door or when otherwise startled. The broom and vacuum are her enemies.
She is beyond motivated for positive praise and her ball.
If you think you could provide Sloan with her happy ever after, please write me at malinoisrescuemichigan@yahoo.com or PM me on Facebook.
