Tyler is a friendly, goofy boy who was pulled from a shelter in Michigan. We don't know much about his history, but we suspect that his physical condition may have been the reason he was dropped at the shelter. You see, Tyler has a visibly unsteady gait and has trouble walking as a result of it. We are still working on a full diagnosis but the current working theory is that his gait is caused by Wobbler's disease. Tyler is not in any pain and is not about to let this minor inconvenience slow him down!

Tyler is very friendly with all people and prefers to be by your side at all times. He is also social with other dogs. He knows some basic commands but due to his condition has some trouble walking nicely on a leash. He likes toys and is very food motivated. Tyler is crate trained but prefers to snuggle on the couch with you (again, he prefers to be by his people's side). Yes, he will work his way up there and is so proud of himself when he makes it.

We think that Tyler may have been an outdoor dog. He has fly strike on his ears and is working on being housebroken. He is making great progress in this respect his foster home but his adoptive home will need to continue to work on this. He also has a tendency to find odd objects in the yard (such as rocks and pieces of wood) that he then considers his 'prize' and will guard. His foster is working with him on trading up for food. Due to this occasional resource guarding of objects, Tyler will not be suitable for a home with young children.

While we are working on a full diagnosis for Tyler we are starting to look for an adoptive home or foster-to-adopt to the right person. Candidates within a maximum of 8 hours from mid-Michigan strongly preferred, Tyler is not a candidate for long transport. Whoever adopts Tyler will need to be aware that his condition may progress and should be prepared to shower him with love and attention for however long he can be kept comfortable. Tyler weighs 76 lbs and needs assistance getting in and out of cars.

Many thanks to Ruff Life Photography for the pictures, they perfectly capture this boy's sweet and goofy personality!
