Rufus is a very timid boy who needs patience and guidance with a confident handler. He is quite shy upon first meeting, but loves to take treats, and soon is begging for attention and nudging your hand for petting and brushing (his favorite thing). 

He does pace nervously when left in the yard. Rufus is crate trained - he loves his airline crate (no wire crates!) and sleeps nicely on a dog bed (will shred blankets!). 

Rufus loves car rides and goes regularly to PetSmart for grooming - he has also taken a few obedience lessons there (but needs more work on leash manners).

Since Rufus has a bit of prey drive, he probably would do best without cats or small dogs, although with proper training he could probably be okay - he currently lives with cats and small dogs, but needs constant supervision around them. 

He seems to be fine around other large dogs; initiates play with females, tends to ignore males. He does not display any dominant behavior, seems to respect dogs who growl or snap at him.

Rufus does like to play with toys; he will bring you the Kong to throw. We don't know if he is a fence-jumper, but due to his anxiety and fear, he may initially try to escape.
