Maui is a 12-month neutered male blue Malinois. He is a nice dog that is doing quite well in his foster home. Maui is affectionate and bonds well with his family, including older, dog-savvy children. He is very territorial and protective, but is very accepting of of others once properly introduced, and as long as he is not provoked.  He is social with other dogs and so far has been non-reactive to cats and chickens/ducks.

So far, Maui has adapted well to different environments and is good in public and likes car rides. He would be an excellent active companion dog for runners/hikers/outdoor folks. He loves to be outside with his person and would do well on a farm property!  He’s intense with medium drive and would be a good candidate for hobby performance like agility  or dock diving.  He is athletic.  He is housebroken and walks well on a leash. He loves to play ball and tug and will bring his toys to you!

Maui is very good in the house with a nice off-switch. He has some enclosure anxiety and  is learning that his crate is a safe place, but will need someone very patient with him because he will bark or try to escape if left in too long. So far, he has been good in the house but would do best with someone who is home more often.  He has not been destructive in the house so far, and will just play with his toys. 

Maui needs an experienced handler that will provide him with consistent  boundaries and expectations with firm, fair limits on what he is allowed to get away with. He’s very smart and loves to learn and wants to please but may bite if the correction is too harsh/unfair.  Overall, this is a very nice dog!
