We use this term whenever a Malinois comes into rescue that is low to moderate drive, likes everyone they meet and is an overall wonderful dog! Rico is all that and then some! 

 

Rico is a 2 year old neutered male with moderate to high energy. He is good with other dogs but because he still has a lot of goofy, puppy energy, older dogs may not be advisable. He is a bit clumsy and has high prey drive. He WILL NOT be placed in a home with cats as we have no way to test him with them.  Rico will not be placed with small children due to his size. He will definitely knock them over. 

 

Rico is very food driven and is very easy to train.  His foster home had to increase his food quantity a bit because he was helping himself to food on the counter! Once his food was increased, this stopped.

 

Rico is a super handsome boy and is a great dog all around!  He does have  prey drive is strong and cats and small animals may not be safe.   Rico is respectful of a 4 ft fence but supervision is always recommended with any dog when outside. 

 

Rico will need continued training for leash walking and obedience. Due to his size he is using an Easy Walk Harness . He is learning how to properly walk on a leash and will need continued work to make walks effortless. 

 

Rico had some basic manners skills when he went to his foster home but has continued to learn.  He's very good at sitting and staying. He will 'Lay Down' after multiple commands.  He is house and crate trained. He will pace to indicate that he needs to go out. 

 

Rico loves affection and will solicit you for pets and attention. 

 

Rico is reported to be the BEST CAR RIDER EVER so he is ready for any adventure you want to go on! He is also very well behaved in public even though his nose never stops checking everything out. He may have a future in nose work or Barn Hunts!
