Saari was found as a stray, and never reclaimed. Talk about the perfect little pocket rocket! Saari was underweight when brought into the shelter. She has put on weight and now weighs 40 pounds, but still needs to put on a few more pounds. Saari is estimated to be between 1-2 years old. It is believed that she was an outside dog that received little attention. She is heartworm positive, and has started 30 days of Doxycycline. When she 1st arrived at the shelter, Saari would only walk circles when on leash leading shelter volunteers to believe that she either lived tied up or in a small enclosure. She has started looking forward to her daily walk with volunteers, and now will walk ahead without circling. Low to medium energy level, this girl stops in her tracks when you show her attention. She loves affection. She takes treats gently, and welcomes a head to toe assessment. She has no problem with examination of mouth, ears or eyes, and will happily let you touch her feet. Shelter volunteers state that she keeps her kennel clean. She has low toy drive, acting more like toys are something she has never seen and wasn’t sure what to do with them. It’s evident that Saari has not had obedience training. She does pull on the leash, and gave no indication that she knows basic commands. She will jump up out of excitement, but is easily corrected off. Overall, Saari is a very pretty, petit girl. Although it appears she has not received the attention she deserves, she will flourish in a home. Once she has time to settle in, she will train easily, and enjoy finally having the opportunity to put her Mal brain to use. With her low to medium drive and friendly nature, she will make someone a nice dog! It was tough to drive away, and leave her behind!
