Anna is currently located northwest of Springfield, IL. She is a lovely 2-3 year old spayed female, up to date with all vaccines, heartworm negative and taking heartworm preventative. Anna walks well on the leash, is crate trained, housebroken and non reactive to cars. She is very people oriented and loves attention and affection. We don’t know Anna’s back story as she was a stray but she’s doesn’t seem to know much about toys. I bet with some patience and practice she will get the hang of it. Anna’s foster says that she is somewhat of a picky eater. Maybe she needs more time to adjust to her new surroundings. Anna has not been introduced to the resident female malinois but has done some under her breath growling at her. They did get into a minor scuffle when both dogs went for the same toy.  Anna might be fine if introduced slowly over time, or maybe she wants all the attention for herself. She does seem to have some car sickness but this can also be dealt with. Due to Anna’s prey drive and interest in squirrels she will not be placed in a home with cats. The perfect home for Anna would be one where someone is home with her most of the time. She craves attention and would not do well being alone a full work day. 

Notes from the foster: 
Anna is a real sweetheart. She knows how to do many different things and will quickly have you fall in love with her. She only talks when she thinks something is very wrong. She has zero inclination to bite hands or even mouth them. She is a shrinking violet, reserved yet confident, especially when outside on walks. She politely asks for scratches, but be warned her appetite for petting and cuddling is insatiable. Vehicles of all shapes and sizes cause her no problems unless they are approaching her while transiting a crosswalk. 

On her walks, Anna is often complimented on her looks and readily accepts being petted by strangers. Her first visit to the vet was uneventful, though, the staff fell in love with her. 

The vet believed she was between 2 and 3 years old and, likely, was used as a breeder before becoming a stray. As a result she knows no commands in English, German, or French but has developed an understanding for a gentle “no” or “nope”, and self-corrects her behavior. She has a good sniffer and readily becomes lost in tracking various scents on her walks or while out lounging in the backyard. She might enjoy scent work classes. Her indoor manners, within reason, are impeccable and she will let you know if she needs to potty. She has no issues with being crated.
