Possible foster to adopt.
Riley - 2 year old (roughly), unspayed female. She's had at 2 heats with the current owner and does well in diapers.
She's been with the current owner for about a year. She was malnourished when they got her and has put on some weight. She looks healthy overall and goes to the vet. She's on preventative heartworm/flea and tick prevention.
She's in a home with other dogs and cats. The older German Shepherd does not like her all that much. She gets along with the other dog. She doesn't interact with the cats. She's curious about them but the owner tries to keep them separate as one of her cats was attacked by a dog.
She passed the touch test no problem. No issues touching her face, teeth, ears, paws, or tail.
She is very affectionate and is very playful. She is both toy and food driven. I don't expect any issues with someone doing training work with her.
She had a lot of pent up energy because her owners both have health issues. The husband is military disabled and has a cart he uses when they go on walks. The wife is recovering from a pulmonary embolism (3 weeks ago) so I don't think the dog has been walked since she was hospitalized. If so, very likely very short distances. She did jump up on me a couple of times but I think that was more excitement and pent up energy driven than normal behavior. She needs work on the leash. Again, likely a symptom of excitement and pent up energy.
She entertains herself with toys and likes to snuggle and be petted. I didn't see any signs of furniture or carpet damage so she is satisfied with her toys.
Overall, she is a really sweet dog. Very pretty and expressive. She understands sit, down, and no. I would think until she has leash work and someone helps ensure that she's not going to keep getting up on people, I'd avoid an older couple.
