Stray

Fraya looks to be very young and has definitely not had a heat cycle yet (no mammary development and small vulva). I thought perhaps she was spayed but I could not find any evidence of an incision or a tattoo indicating that she is spayed (but there were no clippers available to shave that area). But there is that possibility. If that is true - that she is not spayed and has not had a heat cycle - that would mean that she is less than a year old. She does have minimal tartar on her canine teeth, which would make me think that she is older, so the jury is out. Let’s call her a year.

She is on the large side for a female Mal . She weighs 50 pounds but she is very much underweight and probably will top out somewhere between 65 and 70 pounds. She is a beautiful girl and is a pleasure to be around.

Freya does not have any leash manners and will pull. She will also jump on you. She does know sit, but she doesn’t know any other commands. She is very treat motivated! She will run to get a ball if you throw it, but she quickly loses interest. She has no interest in squeaky toys. This girl has her nose on the ground every single minute she is outside. This leads me to believe she would be great at Tracking or Barn Hunt or any one of those fun things. She is sweet overall - her temperament is outgoing, but cautious. I would not call her timid, just unsure like she doesn’t know what is expected of her.

Fraya seems to be fine with other dogs, mostly ignoring them. We took her into the cat room to see what she would do with cats. She acted as if she had never seen a cat, but was willing to go up and sniff. That was until a little orange kitten charged his little kennel door, hissing and spitting and Fraya tucked tail and ran. I wish I had gotten video of that. Both the kitten and Freya!

Freya is gentle when taking treats from your hand and she learns quickly that she should not jump on you. Overall, she is just desperately seeking direction. This is an exceptional Malinois.

The shelter has brought her up-to-date on her vaccinations and she is heartworm negative. She has been dewormed and flea and treatment has been administered.
